GATSBY TEST CHAPTERS 1-4

Chapter 1:
1. How does Nick describe himself in the beginning and why is this important?
2. How does Nick describe Tom Buchanan and in addition, how is analyzing the implicit characterization help you know more about his persona?

Chapter 2:
1. How did Nick get to meet Tom's misstress and who is she?
2. How does Tom's mistress character change in regards being with Tom?

Chapter 3:
1. In Gatsby party, how do the people behave?
2. Why did Nick attend the party compared to the other guests?

Chapter 4:
1. What does Gatsby confide to Nick about his past?
2. Why does Gatsby leave when Nick tries to introduce him to Tom?

    1. Nick describes himself in such a manner that allows us to connect with him like with the detail that he had a dog but it ran away
    2. Nick describes Tom as kind of arrogant in some manner, tom's way of speech seems toxic in some manner

    Chap 2;
    1 Nick meets Tom's new side-chick by going along with him for some car dealership or something
    2. Mrs. Wilson goes from being a wife that just stays with her husband to an arrogant, soulless person after becoming a rich man's girlfriend

    Chap 3;
    1. Everyone at the Gatsby party behaves a bit arrogant, a bit full of themselves and what not.
    2. Nick, unlike the other guests, was actually invited

    Chap. 4:
    1. Gatsby tells Nick of his war stories and such
    2. Gatsby leaves when Tom comes by because he doesn't want to see Tom, the guy that's married to the girl that he once loved

  2. Chapter 1.
    1.He describes himself as highly educated and he revived judgement to other people this is important because we get to know him and his role in the story
    2.Tom describes tom as a big built guy who played football. A powerful figure this implication helps us understand tom better a character because of his behavior we ending up reading and understanding that he......is.......a..........douche.

    Chapter 2.
    1.Nick meets tom mistress by going to their place which is a repair shop for cars. We find that her name is Myrtle and she is married yet still with tom .
    2.She starts to change personality as if she is "all that" and acts like a argent rich person.

    Chapter 3.
    1.People come in even though they weren't invited so they are just looking for a party to enjoy. Though they act like it's an elegant party.
    2.He attended the party to try to meet the man himself Jay Gatsby.

    Chapter 4.
    1.Gatsby shows Nick that he has been threw a lot and done a lot of things that let's him that all the talk around is true and exerts himself as a top dawg.
    2.He does not want to see tom or tom to know that he is there since Gatsby is in love with daisy

  3. 1. Nick describes himself as who he reserves judgement to others at the beginning of the book. This is important because it gives us an insight on how Nick is as a person.
    2. Nick describes Tom Buchanan as arrogant, wealthy, and athletic.
    3. Tom and Nick took a train to New York and it stopped near Tom's mistress named Myrtle Wilson who's married as well.
    4. Myrtle's personality starts to change as her being all that/ rich than what she actually is.
    5. In Gatsby's party, all the guests were not invited, talked bad about Gatsby in his own home, and did whatever they want like getting really drunk to get crazy.
    6. Nick differs from the other guests because he was the only one who was actually invited.
    7. Gatsby talks about all the medals he won from the war, where he went to college... he just wanted to clarify all the nonsense that he heard from the other guests.
    8. Gatsby left when Nick tries to introduce him to Tom because he doesn't want to see the man who is married to his the love of his life, Daisy nor have him found out about Gatsby's love towards Daisy.
