THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR VOICE

As a 6th grader having to read my "funny" or "creative" story in front of the class as everyone did on a Friday was just a roller coaster. I would go up in front of the classroom and before I started talking, my hands got sweaty. Before I read the sentence, my eyes would water. I would stand there. Shaking. It was a feeling that I knew I was confident and could go through my whole story, but I just could not.
Now think of this: Your having a class party and the teacher asks for food options. You may not share your idea/ opinion. But if you did not get to vote, you made a choice of having others vote for you and make your decision ( at least the average - majority- select for you).
Being a shy young girl, I did not participate much. In other words, many choices were made for me or I followed the "crowd". It also made me so insecure about myself. I wanted to fit in. However, to do so, I always had everyone else go first before I did.
Now, gaining my confidence back in myself, I like starting first or volunteering first: to get over with whatever it is or simply because I feel excited and prepared and not as nervous as before. When ever I saw something wrong, I never spoke up and if I did, I was afraid. Now, I feel okay to make conversations or argue politely with anyone. I am not afraid. I am not afraid to ask questions. I am not afraid to simply be me.

THE FUTURE OF OPEN SOURCE CODE

An article about preserving data, read HERE.

(Here are my Notes I took if you want a shorter version.)

Open Source Code Will Survive the Apocalypse in an Arctic Cave

Last Stop before North Pole for civilization is Svalbard
   - Coal Mines have shut down
     > Attraction to scientist; doomsday peppers setting
         * ideal spot for a big global reset button // keeping it neutral in times of war
Place
-belongs to Svalbard Global Seed Vault: Food/ Crops are stored and grown to be preserved in
case of famine pandemic or nuclear apocalypse
   - Nat Friedman explores abandoned coal mine, metal tool shed
-Arctic World Archive (the metal tool shed)
     - Data encoded on discs - like old - school movie reels: microfilms
= Norwegian company Piqlas coats w/ iron oxide for resistance
relates to Open Source Code Will Survive the Apocalypse in an Arctic Cave
       - will last 750 years normal conditions & 2,0000 years in low- oxygen cave
Open Source Software --> Greatest Achievements (along
w/ masterpieces of art & literature)
   -* Foundation of Modern World
   - basic idea: write code & share it
     > Expands to anyone modifying it and making it their
     own
   - significant inventions, ex: nuclear powder, antibiotics,
     etc...
Microsoft making $$$ on source codes through Windows and Office
   - Lead to DIY Hacker, Torvalds, stood ground to the idea of
free speech, free access to public goods and knowledge,
      and progress itself
   - Torvalds wrote the Linux Codes (under grids the internet
   and smartphones)
    - Debate: how much control few companies have in
     tech
       - Open Source became a RULE
          - Helped Google afford to give services for us like email, maps, etc...
In addition, Torvalds wrote a program - GIT: helps manage development Linux -> GitHub
   - Github: process of codes easier --> searching for existing codes rather than starting
     from scratch
Purpose
    - not for powerful companies to get more power but for the people

Summary: Open Source Code would not have imagined as possible more than 20 years ago, let's say, 20 years before this article was published. Many companies kept their coding secret for themselves which meant everyone had to start from scratch to perfect theirs or to even start coding. Sooner than expected, open source became a rule. It was influenced by the idea of "freedom of speech, free access to public goods and knowledge, and progress itself" (Vance). As a result of codes being accessible to everyone, we now have free services from Google and other developments. The purpose was to democratize technology and for the people to explore these resources without having to ask permission or being watched. However, our new sources in the Internet like Facebook and such have been able to analyze us, the users. I think it is so interesting that Svalbard is the place where they store most of the existing coding and that it contains from different countries. It is also a spot of neutrality.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING

Have you ever gone on a mini-vacation with your family?
Perhaps you have, but have your family ever gone somewhere without plans?

There was an event on a Saturday morning. I woke up extra early that morning. My family had plans to go get some breakfast and then drive of to Santa Barbara where the event was taking place. However, that morning, I was notified that the event was cancel because our main presenter that was running the event happened to go out of the country for an emergency family situation.

My mom, sisters, and I were all in dresses as my father was in a nice polo shirt and shorts. We got in the car, and we made plans to go to Santa Barbara and just go downtown or to an attraction place. Not before we drove off, our plans changed. We were going to Santa Monica Pier.

It was the first time we had been to Santa Monica Pier. We spend the whole afternoon walking around and it was really crowed. We did some window shopping and walked around a few stores. However, it was getting late and my father wanted us to go to Downtown L.A. He was excited to show us around L.A. because my sisters and I had not really gotten the opportunity to go there due to time whenever we had gone to L.A. In addition, my dad had lived around there before. Since it was too late, we found ourselves looking for a Hotel. Every single place we had stopped was "full". We tried the casinos, the areas close to the center of LA, nothing. We just got on the highway again when I made a final call. They had a couple of rooms.

The room was in okay condition. And very dull. There was loud noises from people upstairs, music blasting from a car parked outside, and the sound of cars zooming really fast in the highway. There was even a knock in our door. As creepy as this place was, it was enough for us to wake up the next morning and go for a walk in L.A.

In comparison, we had just recently attended a Wedding in L.A. Planning ahead of time is a benefit. You pay half as much and know where to drive and where to go. I can conclude that I did enjoy my trip better in the latter story because my sisters and I used the swimming pool, and our rooms were perfect as the sun is up because we got great lighting a more seemingly clean room.

NUMEROLOGY

ATTITUDE = 100%
(Credits to Readers Digest Canada's article "These Are the Luckiest Days of the Year to Do Everything, According to Numerology" ) - Just for the Picture

Numerology - the belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events.

Fun Fact:
When I was in 4th - 5th grade I would carry a small journal with the Pythagorean Numerology chart. The notebook contained not just the chart, but notes from every article/ story I found online or at the Public Library. There was so few formulas written and pages full of what the numbers meant. They all added to a sum that represented love, compassion, luck and and perfect timing. For others it was how it was related to the power of a word or your name (Which is starting to remind me of Rumpelstiltskin -  and how he names his daughter Hope because each name contains power). I would observe different people, as well at school where everyone knows each other in the class, and I would use their names without telling them. I would add and solve and get numbers and in my own mind, I would know what these numbers indicated about them. In addition, I would also have dreams. I remembered these dreams came from November 2012 and in November 2013. Who knows why on the month of November, for I still wonder about it.

Now that I'm a junior in high school, I am curious to go back and look through my notes. However, I have thrown that notebook away a year or two ago because there was so much writing. I mean, whenever I found something interesting at that time, I copied whole paragraphs word by word and annotated so much in ink (imagine all the scribbles for each mistake - no, i did not think of using whiteout).

What do you think about Numerology?

TODAY'S ARGUMENT // PATHOS

          LET'S START AN ARGUMENT

You want to argue first? 💥😏

Oh, you want me to argue first?
HAHA  OHkAaayyyYY  😆@?!

WHY I ARGUED

My younger sister, Andrea
So today, I had two meetings in the afternoon.

First, I had to meet right after school with the Ag teachers and my fellow officers companions to plan ahead for our monthly meeting.

Secondly, we had a gathering for Youth Making Change in the late afternoon with my sister so we both decided to hangout at Jacks while I did some of my homework. Many topics came up, especially an interesting one not many people talk about, ... or do they?

Teens change throughout high school.

True, right? I mean it may be a slow change you do not really notice in these four years. It could be negative or positive changes.

(I agree, it is weird that teens would talk about teens in general.
So... I guess you can conclude that we are they type of weird)

When I was in middle school (junior high), I had been told by many that when you are in high school you become a different person as in an disobedience child. Many of my peers had older siblings to whom they referred to as evidence.
- "My older brother started going out so much and now he doesn't do anything at home"
- "My older sister is always getting mad and angry. It is like we have to fight about something everyday"
... and so the list goes on and on.

Now, being wearing the shoes of a high school student and eldest child in my family, I can argue that it is not all true.

MY ARGUMENT (CHECK THIS BLOG HERE AND IT'S DOWN BELOW)

LET'S START AN ARGUMENT

You want to argue first? 💥😏

Oh, you want me to argue first?
HAHA  OHkAaayyyYY  😆@?!

The main idea of this argument is how high school changes most students in many ways, specifically gives them a brighter outlook. We discussed about how students in high school become more mature.

Yes, there are many students who do not change their behavior at all. They accept their grades and stay standing to the idea that education is not worth it for them. Others ditch their classes while others go to class trolling like zombies without wanting to come back to life.

However, observing people going into relationships and facing life responsibilities such as working proves that teenagers do become more mature.

I wanted to be persuasive so I used Pathos. The reason I chose Pathos was because many other teens could relate to the relationship part. It does not have to be a boy-girlfriend relationship. It could be a best-friend relationship in which one influences the other and one realizes that they have to keep achieving more milestones even without their friends if they are not supportive.

ON SELF- RELIANCE PART III

Self- help in America alone is a billion dollars business
"Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own"

People are good.

Honoring your nature.
- still same person you were and are.

Example:
Same values as when Obama was president until today president

TAKE A CLOSER LOOK DEEP MEANING AND POV
Civil war was after this article.

Dont act like your good if your not actually good.

If something is good, lets call it out because thats what matters,
Don't overuse some words

He isn't against charity or good events
He is against about people that give and donate to look good,
He is against those who behave bad with friends and families but goes to church.
Hipocrisy

Virtues
- integrity,

ITS A SHAME: it is more common to see bad news than good news

Sometimes people aren't nice, but they make up for it by donating into charities, etc

You dont need someone to pat you in the back to say good boy or care for what others think

You will always find those who think they know more than you what you should be doing than yourself --- living others opoins

Its harder to know people because when they talk, they talk like whatever they are saying is based on a script after hearing it from somewhere else and you cant see their true themselves. They give the same points and you cant really feel if they are actually believing it. Not only do ppl stop speaking like themselves, they dont say no.
A man may have to know how to estimate a sad. sour face.

Reactions we see might hurt our feelings,
they arent really about us, the reactions are about them - what they have read, seen, or done, or discontent,

When you disagree with someone, they will wonder why? whats the difference

ppl from certain education/ temper - they will attack you , explore,

THE GAME IS BIGGER THAN THE PLAYER
Picture: Bringng ppl together to discuss - disagreement? (I don'd agree with you/ No) Simple and dry
You have two choices, either just say ok and . or ask why
Why - brings it into a conversation

ON SELF- RELIANCE PART II

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

Soliloquy-

If you choose not to decide, you still had made a choice

You don't know what you can do until you do your best.

You can't show your best, if you never try your best.

"I'm so stressed" ---> Relaxation, which then stresses us more

We feel at our best, when we put our heart into it and we acknowledge it.

Emerson talks about teenagers - sometimes they don't care
- Teenagers do not care what they do not care about. And they might let you know.
- Ex: a baby does not care when it's hungry, adults drop what they are doing, and adults have to compromise.
Babies and Rude people that don't have a filter, should teach us that is okay.
An adult is trapped by its conscious, we are always aware how others see us and our voices become faint and fainter.

FIRST IMPRESSION: ON SELF-RELIANCE

"Our acts our angels are, or good or ill"

The belief in you is worth celebrating is genius.
We have this inside voice with which we would speak with.
We should think for ourselves and not from other what we read or observe.
Many of us do not think greatly of ourselves, but we should.

How can you yourself and be someone else at the same time?
If you are good being someone else, then your true self had died.

There are many wonderful people who take the knowledge in and study it but to take action is another different story.

*Woah! It totally makes sense about being your true self or either pretending to be someone you aren't. This reminds me of a friend who wasn't sure of them self. They were going through experiences that lead to this person to say that they eventually had a mask on. After hearing this, I wondered if they even had a small part of them that was true and at least be happy. I hope they figure them self out and eventually find hope or heal spiritually because holding on to a mask could potentially end up hurting one or others. Even if they felt that they would not be heard, they should keep trying.
