MY ESSAY ESSAY

In the short story Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne gives us a short story of evil versus good; how anything/anyone you confront can win you over in ways you do not imagine and it changes you. Initially, Goodman Brown goes for a walk one late evening. Undoubtedly, we can read in the beginning that Goodman Brown insists on going for this walk, "of all nights in the year, this one must I tarry away...". He was just 3 months married and leaves his wife caring in distress for him. However, they have faith in God. They pray for each other and believe in God so truly that they feel protected against any harm. Along Brown's walk, he encounters this evil presence, this evil someone. In addition, Brown sees everyone whom he thought he knew well without purity as he used to know them. This changes his whole perspective about everyone, sadly, even his wife which is the cause he had an unhappy life until his last days.
He was already waiting this visit since he told his wife he had to go. Furthermore, Brown does go for a walk and it is not a dream as many thought so. "Poor little Faith"..."She talks of dreams, too". The dreams they had; such as the ones Brown had had another significance. Brown at the end of the story also woke up in the forest and this shows that the whole situation he was in was actually real. Indeed, he did see the leaders of the government and leaders in the church all encourage his wife (as well as his Faith) join them. However, this could just be produced by the Devil himself to make Brown join him. The Devil's techniques would include everyone he used to look up to and everyone he loved. If they all seem to join him, then perhaps Brown should not be alone and feel shameful but so join, too. I believe that they do not remember seeing him there or even approaching him for they were never there. If Young Goodman Brown feels watched it is because his perspective on anyone change because of the new way he saw things. Even his parents had given in the with the devil but never mentioned it according to the Devil himself. We can support that his family would never mention it as well as any other group of people in fear to be prosecuted or taken out of the town for not being following a Christianity's faith properly. Brown's faith is lost but his dear wife Faith is not. She is not a liar for she stayed waiting for him. She was also having dreams which probably left her doubtful as well as having a husband walk to the forest to meet someone.
Hawthorne communicates this theme through his diction, the symbols he uses, and his plot.
A few examples for Symbolism are: the staff - which turns into a snake; the town Salem - witches era.

YOUNG GOODMAN BROWN

In "Young Goodman Brown", Hawthorne's purpose for writing is show us that there is always good and evil in each of us. The amount of it is unknown, for we all encounter it in different ways and respond in different ways. In this short story, Brown's wife is named Faith. After reading the story I disagree because in the beginning of the short story the couple sounded and I could picture it to be a loving relationship full of trust and care for each other. Faith's name does fit her personality because she even says goodbye and includes "God Bless you... may you find it all well, when you come back." This shows that she cares for him and will be waiting for him to come back home. Faith is not just about hoping for something but Believing. Brown does not have true faith in her towards the middle-end of the story because he starts to lean and give in to the devil himself. An example is that he walks with him forwards even though he said he was going to far and wanted to turn back. In these occasions, actions matter more than his words because he is not doing what he was coming out of his tongue/mouth. The Pink Ribbons signify a part of Faith for she was the one who wore it. It also represents faith showing up. Everything Brown witnessed was real to him.
  1. Was everything Brown witnessed real, a figment of his imagination, something conjured by evil, or a dream?  Support your answer with passages from the text.
  2. Who do you think the old man really is?  What textual clues tell you this?
  3. What does the staff represent?  Do you think the staff leads Brown onward or is the primary motivator Brown's own conscience/mind?
  4. If Brown had not ventured into the forest, how would his life be different?  If he'd stayed home, would Brown still have Faith?  Would he still trust his wife and his fellow townspeople?

THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

How do we channel our Responses?

Media is all around the world. It is the most common way people communicate rather than have a conversation in person

FOR THE WIN

We are Winners

Run your race and be Proud

There has been many accomplishments throughout the school year and in general in throughout
the year with our personal lives. Only if everyone can share their accomplishments others do not see when they see them, they can all lift each other's spirits up and contribute to a better happier place in society.
Oh, what if they do not have big accomplishments?!?
It's NOT about how BIG their accomplishments are or how LITTLE. Everyone has different goals, different ways to reach them and everyone runs their race in a different pace. No TWO people are alike or even the same in every way. (I mean, everyone has different fingerprints! :p)

Something I am proud of is becoming a catechist teacher with my mom, again.
Throughout the year, they have 4 couples teaching the classes.
Last year, my father taught the adults and my mom taught the youth under 13 years. I helped my mom and time to time I got to teach. This year we got back in the group as catechist and I am proud to be introduced to this year's class. I can't wait to explore new opportunities and experiences with the class.

I CARE ABOUT YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND a small piece of Advice

Greetings,
Today I am writing with the intention of being understood. My blogs may vary from a few bullet points to a couple of sentence or even paragraphs (Even Videos). It is really important for me to share my knowledge and learn from my mistakes. "Practicing makes perfect", in other words, practicing something you want to get better at helps you improve those skills.
Why do I write?

THE MAKING OF AN ESSAY + NOTES

Essays. Informative Essays. Persuasive Essays. Argumentative Essay.
Essays can be so stressful, it can make you crazy! It can be OVERWHELMING. Essays can bring so many emotions at the same time. I get frustrated writing down my thoughts on paper and erasing my paragraphs to add more. Then I get back feedback telling me that my writing was wrong and like many others I feel confident in writing until that moment. I love typing essays. It is much easier. You can go back and add, fix, or change any part of the essay to make it better and sound more academic. But what is the whole purpose to have a perfect essay? I now realize that the most important factor is One itself. One's thought and opinions is the reason for the essay.

Literature Analysis: Kit's Wilderness P.1

In Kit's Wilderness, David Almond's novel in a perspective of first person, is starting in Stoneygate with Christopher Watson (Kit) trying to fit in and encountering himself being allure to the mines and the past of Stoneygate. As a new resident at a town where his grandparents lived and his ancestors, he was told he was from the old families. He meets a strange boy, John Askew, who keeps telling Kit that they will be close because they are so alike, not only by being from old families. The reason Kit's family and Kit moved is to take care of Kit's grandpa because his grandma died. Grandpa tells many stories and introduces him to the town, even to the cemetery where Kit's full name was written in a tombstone with many others from his school. Kit joins Askew and his classmates, only from old families, to play a game of Death in a pit. Kit follows the ritual and on his second time playing he gets the chance to die. After what it seems like a blackout, Kit wakes up and see's them blending in within the walls.
